Toy Guns: Appropriate? Inappropriate? You decide!

So I had my cousins over, boys obviously, and the elder one is 7 and the younger is 5.  Anyway, they bought with them two big toy guns with a built-in light and with gun machine and blasts sound effects.  And I was thinking whether is a suitable toy for young children because it promotes some undesirable attitudes.  First and foremost you are giving your child a toy designed from a weapon, a weapon used in battle, in war, and built to destroy, to kill, to finish off a living being.  And a lot of toy guns are very realistic and work like an actual real gun when cocking it and firing toy bullets.  Is that ok?  I understand that it's just a toy, just kids playing and that this doesn't mean that they are going to go off and buy guns and start murdering people on the streets, I get that.  But when a child is given this it's like sort of saying to your child that yeah violence is ok and shooting is ok too.  It's possible for a child to get really interested in guns and the only thing missing from a toy gun is actual bullets y'know, that's the next step and you never know maybe they'll want to get a taste of the actual thing.  Obviously, we don't want our children to grow up with an aggressive and violent nature but perhaps, maybe toy guns could possibly promote that kind of behaviour.  I don't know, I'm not claiming to be expert or something, all I'm saying is that maybe there's a possibility that toy guns aren't the best toys to buy and could possibly be too violent and aggressive, promoting the wrong kind of behaviour.  I'm not saying it is, I'm merely pointing out that there is a POSSIBILITY.  Also, I think age is important too, because as a child grows older he/she develops more of an understanding about stuff and so you can explain to them what is right and wrong and the extents of things, such toy guns are ok for playing as long as it just stays playing and doesn't turn into anything something serious.  So yeah it's really up to parents, I'm not judging or preaching or anything of that sort and I definitely don't want to offend anyone!  Also, I read an article saying that toy guns could be a benefit for a child development which is always a plus.  However there are a lot of educational toys out there that can help with a child's learning and be super fun.

Random Craziness

So I was just sitting with my laptop, bored and thought maybe I'll do a new post.  Except I cannot think of anything to talk about.  I'll start off with the weather because I was just looking outside and saw that it has started to rain again and the rain has been annoying me these past couple of days.  It just rains for a minute or two, stops, then after 20 mins have passed the same thing happens again and you can hear thunder as well.  And it's just like, stop toying with us and just rain properly, like heavily!!  And, omg.  That's just what has happened.  I just typed that it should rain properly, like heavily and that's what happened. That is super spooky.  It's like pouring now :O and it's stopped :| See what I mean?  Annoying! Anyway, on to happier things, I'm reading this book Necropath by Eric Brown (link) and it's pretty amazing.  I'm only on like page 74 so I can't give you any proper thoughts but it's got me hooked and you should definitely check it out.  This book is actually the first book of a trilogy called Bengal Station trilogy.  I actually borrowed this because I was looking for inspiration for a piece of work that I'm writing which has murder and other worlds in it too.  Let me know what your top favourite book(s) are in the comments section :D

Torchwood Obsession!

Hello readers! Hope you are all well and good and healthy! I want to talk about my latest obsession: Torchwood!!  I am absolutely loving the show, I mean, when it first started I never really watched it because I was quite young and some of the content wasn't suitable, and it came on late.  Anyway, now the new series has started and it looks AWESOME! So I was like, man, I have to watch it from the beginning series one.  And I am loving every second of it, it is so cool, so gripping,  so exciting to watch y'know.  Right now I'm on episode 6, series one, and it's pretty gruesome to watch with all the corpses stripped from their flesh.  Also, things are getting pretty hot between Gwen and Owen!  Haha, so yeah, it's a lot of fun watching the show, all the episodes, well the ones I have watched so far, have been creative and imaginative and omg I'm just so pumped!  I haven't been disappointed yet, the direction has been really good and I think the crew have done a really good job because they've made every minute really intense and excited for the viewers, so yeah.  I'm going to go watch episode 6 now! :D

Celebrities Without Makeup

Oh my goodness!  I am so sick and tired of people saying ohhh look at her without make up she's so UGLY oh look at this celeb without make up she looks like a dog!!  It's like people having forgotten the true purpose of make up and that is to hide flaws and blemishes and even out skin tone and to cover spots or zits or whatever you want to call them.  Yet so many people are surprised and shocked when they see a celebrity without make up.  It's like, are you out of your mind??  What did you expect, for actresses and singers to have bronzer embedded into their skin.  Honestly, do you people really think that celebs wake up looking like red carpet glamour?  Seriously, get over it!!  That is what make up is for, to cover all their flaws.  At the end of the day they are human and humans are perishable.  I heard this type of talking too when someone says, for example, Eva Longoria is sooo pretty and then another person says you should see her without make up and then all of a sudden everyone's saying she is ugly, blah blah.... Get over it man!  That's what make up is for.  Seriously.  It's not cool man.  Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against make up, I mean I think blusher is great because it really perks up the face and gives you a glow - I use it all the time.  It's just that if someone is wearing foundation/concealer then they've obviously got some marks or blemishes on their face that they would rather cover up so I think we shouldn't freak out about it and go crazy!
