Toy Guns: Appropriate? Inappropriate? You decide!

So I had my cousins over, boys obviously, and the elder one is 7 and the younger is 5.  Anyway, they bought with them two big toy guns with a built-in light and with gun machine and blasts sound effects.  And I was thinking whether is a suitable toy for young children because it promotes some undesirable attitudes.  First and foremost you are giving your child a toy designed from a weapon, a weapon used in battle, in war, and built to destroy, to kill, to finish off a living being.  And a lot of toy guns are very realistic and work like an actual real gun when cocking it and firing toy bullets.  Is that ok?  I understand that it's just a toy, just kids playing and that this doesn't mean that they are going to go off and buy guns and start murdering people on the streets, I get that.  But when a child is given this it's like sort of saying to your child that yeah violence is ok and shooting is ok too.  It's possible for a child to get really interested in guns and the only thing missing from a toy gun is actual bullets y'know, that's the next step and you never know maybe they'll want to get a taste of the actual thing.  Obviously, we don't want our children to grow up with an aggressive and violent nature but perhaps, maybe toy guns could possibly promote that kind of behaviour.  I don't know, I'm not claiming to be expert or something, all I'm saying is that maybe there's a possibility that toy guns aren't the best toys to buy and could possibly be too violent and aggressive, promoting the wrong kind of behaviour.  I'm not saying it is, I'm merely pointing out that there is a POSSIBILITY.  Also, I think age is important too, because as a child grows older he/she develops more of an understanding about stuff and so you can explain to them what is right and wrong and the extents of things, such toy guns are ok for playing as long as it just stays playing and doesn't turn into anything something serious.  So yeah it's really up to parents, I'm not judging or preaching or anything of that sort and I definitely don't want to offend anyone!  Also, I read an article saying that toy guns could be a benefit for a child development which is always a plus.  However there are a lot of educational toys out there that can help with a child's learning and be super fun.

Random Craziness

So I was just sitting with my laptop, bored and thought maybe I'll do a new post.  Except I cannot think of anything to talk about.  I'll start off with the weather because I was just looking outside and saw that it has started to rain again and the rain has been annoying me these past couple of days.  It just rains for a minute or two, stops, then after 20 mins have passed the same thing happens again and you can hear thunder as well.  And it's just like, stop toying with us and just rain properly, like heavily!!  And, omg.  That's just what has happened.  I just typed that it should rain properly, like heavily and that's what happened. That is super spooky.  It's like pouring now :O and it's stopped :| See what I mean?  Annoying! Anyway, on to happier things, I'm reading this book Necropath by Eric Brown (link) and it's pretty amazing.  I'm only on like page 74 so I can't give you any proper thoughts but it's got me hooked and you should definitely check it out.  This book is actually the first book of a trilogy called Bengal Station trilogy.  I actually borrowed this because I was looking for inspiration for a piece of work that I'm writing which has murder and other worlds in it too.  Let me know what your top favourite book(s) are in the comments section :D
